  • The MNDA mission is to fund and promote research to bring about an end to MND
  • The Association focuses on enabling everyone with MND to receive the best care, achieve the highest quality of life possible, and die with dignity
  • The Association also funds research to understand what causes MND, how to diagnose it and, most importantly, how to effectively treat it so that it no longer devastates lives
  • The Association was formed in 1979
  • They now have 1,500 volunteers and 120 employees

  • 350 Association Visitors & Volunteers
  • Network of 15 Care Centres in UK
  • Regional Care Development Advisers

SITraN

SITraN logo
  • MNDA works in partnership with the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN)
  • The institute researches new drugs to treat MND
  • Established in 2000 by Professor Pamela Shaw, SITraN was funded by the Welcome Trust and the MNDA
  • Today the department has more than 80 clinical and science researchers Professor Shaw has dedicated her career to the care of MND patients and is regarded as one of the world's leading MND specialists
  • The funds that we raise on our cycle ride will go towards research, approved by the MNDA, conducted by SITraN to find treatment for MND
